Samsung PS50B530 picture turning on and off

I imagine the command to turn Vs on would come from the main board. Why not tie the Vs-ON pin to the STB 5V via a 470 ohm resistor. If the TV continues to function without dropping Vs, it would at least eliminate the PSU. Beyond that, it's 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other.

ProDave:
A bit more basic checking and I find that the basic DC voltages are a bit down, D5V_3 is measuring 4.8V and Vg is measuring about 13.5V (should be 15V)

So with both main voltages to the main board a bit low it could be the cause of it playing up.

I have just ordered some caps to rebuild those two supplies and I will report back in a couple of days when I get them.

ProDave:
My capacitors arrived today. I have replaced CM409, CM410, CM411, CM412, CM403 and CM404.  All with Panasonic high temperature low ESR caps.

D5_3 is only marginally up to 4.85V but Vg is much better at 14.8V

It's working now and on soak test. Time will tell if that was all that was wrong.

Well, best of luck with it , Dave. My punter didn't want to open his wallet too wide, so he gave me the TV. Consequently, it's on the back burner now.
