But the backlights are on. Even if one strip was out surely Id still get menu up. Theres just a white screen.

Sorry, read your blog wrongly . Thought it said no video or backlights  but sound . My mistake

Fixed it. Power board was faulty, checked original Tcon and that was duff as well.
