Sharp LC70le650x no picture

I'm having a fault with my Sharp LC70le650x 70 inch led TV.

It's approx 2 years old.

The screen does not show any picture but I can see that the backlight is still on. I've shined a torch on the screen too and can't see a picture.

There is still audio when I plug a DVD player in to the av ports.

The problem had occurred before and a tech came out and reset the TV, I believe using the input / chanel buttons, and the problem went away for a couple of weeks.

I've since tried doing this and managed to get the menu to pop up for a second but it quickly disappeared. Every other time it's turned on, whilst you can see there's light, no picture is present?

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Theres a few threads on badcaps.net regarding this set where a fair few members have managed to fix this issue by totally removing a side driver from the panel although it can cause lag on games etc it still can fix the tv so its usable and watchable heres one thread that maybe worth a read

I've read the technical bulletin and the post you supplied. Thanks for the reading guys it's been a great read.

Before I start the process of removing the side drivers, can I confirm some stuff?

I'm describing all left / right as though you are looking at the screen.

Looking at the screen of the TV, I removed the left ribbon connected to the tcon (which when you face the back of the TV is on the right) and the left side of the TV turned on with a solid white bright light but no picture. Nothing at all on the right half.

Repeat the process with left ribbon back on and the right ribbon off of the tcon,  the right half has a very dim backlight, no picture, and nothing showing on the left side at all.

I would assume this means the drivers on the right are my culprit and I will need remove them?

Is this assumption sounding right?

Yeah, I believe that's right. A good screen will display white half on the side that the Flexie is removed from. So right side seems to be the problem.

Remember, the process is non reversible. I've never had the courage to try it myself, but as the panel cannot be economically replaced, go for it.

If it's a flop, nothing gained  but nothing lost either.               Bruce

Maybe worth asking/confirming on badcaps i wouldnt want you to remove the wrong side and make the tv totally unusable

Got the courage to take the tabs off and it worked about 80%. Still have two bands of no good across the screen.

Posted on badcaps to see if any advice.
