So a punter rolls up late yesterday afternoon with a late cheapish Panasonic LCD TV.The pictures odd, looks like a spiders web!I'll put it on,but I bet your screens broken.NO,NO,No way it can be broken,no ones touched it.
Sure enough just off center, impact mark, like a Biro point, with lines radiating away from it.
Yep,as I thought, impact damage, caused by something hitting the screen,NO,No way that's happened, working fine Saturday night until around 11.30,broken at 1.30 pm Sunday when I switched it on!
Well all I can tell you is with 43 yrs of TV repairing, someone has broken your TV,do you have any young children at all that's the most common cause of LCD screen breakage,NO,NO, both my boy's are 19 &22,they were out Saturday night,it was one of them switched it on Sunday & told me it was faulty.
Well unless you've got a Ghost, may be hoovering Sunday morning someone has court the screen with Hoover handle & not noticed, then my best guess would be someone stumbled into it early hours Sunday morning!
Hmmmm,but,but they'd tell me,wouldn't they?
Oh well,suppose I've got to buy a new one,what should I buy?other than a Panasonic,cos I'm not having another one of their's after this little fiasco :03: :03:
What can you say,but laugh, why ask the expert in the first place.I would have loved to had been a fly on the wall in that house Saturday night,Sunday morning to see what had happened, lots of beer & shots me thinks.

Hi Bonesy,

Had a Sony KDL40R553C  in the other day, Son had given it to his dad saying it just wanted a RCU, stand and P/S.

Had some doubts but the screen looked OK so got the PS for a tenner from Ebay, as couldn't check it otherwise. Screen duff of course - Families - Chris.

Tbh,I work from a shop owned by my best mate,so I get free work space,he gets shop boy.I use to do a lot of field service, tune ins,but they've tailed right off now.Customers bring their stuff to us,I will go out & pick up,but tell them there will be C&D charge for this.Only ever had two in with broken screens, luckily spotted them as they came through the door, not broken in transit, but broken by kids that hadn't owned up at the time.

kennyc:
Best one used to be with the videos when you took the top of and the kids little toy was inside . You could almost hear the screams as the little kid got battered for costing his parents £40 as you walked away from the front door
