Sony Sound Bar - SA-CT60BT - No go.

Hi folks,

Got one in where it doesn't fire up. Chap said he'd dropped it, then changed the plug fuse where it went again, for a while, then didn't.

Note folks on line suggest replacing C914 which seems to be a 470mf cap if the mains fuse F900 hasn't popped. F900 is OK C914 seems OK but no secondary voltages.

Can't yet find a service manual. Chopper chip seems OK but can't source info on driver chip SSC6216/SK4814A

Hi Chris, I've not met this soundbar, and likewise, cannot find a s/m for it. Can only suggest monitoring the volts on said C914 when you turn the unit off at power point. If it drains rather rapidly, maybe a short in PSU secondary, but if it maintains a charge for quite some time, then the primary is inert - maybe the control IC, which seems awol on sites I frequent. Don't forget the PSU start resistor/s
of yore. Maybe it has some.

Note that PS has secondary voltages which seem to vanish along the panel. There's something that looks like a SMD Buck converter which has input but no output, which may mean nothing at all if controlled by the M/proc.

Tried find info on the chip - Nothing, even on Ebay. C914(470mf) has 3.3volts, which think might be significant to the M/proc. function.

Have a sinking feeling - Sound bars seem awful complex to deal with rubbish speakers on current TVs - Chris.
