handling large screens

Hi all Just wondering is there any tips on handling large screens when taking apart to repair led faults.Have came a cropper a couple of times lately with 50'screens ,its like walking on eggs trying to keep them safe .Any feedback very welcome

Iv got a sucker to lift it slightly then I put large stiff cardboard from an old TV box, under the screen n slide it up. Lay board down behind me on bubble wrap.

hi i'm just wondering if anyone tell the customer there's a risk in the repair i'e cracking the screen taking it out, thanks

Yeah, they're getting bigger aren't they, folks were very happy with a 28" once upon a time.

For large sets I use MDF board specially kept for the purpose..... if ever you scrap a largish telly, have a shufty in the screen..... you may find a nice thick rigid plastic sheet.

It's not just a matter of supporting, all you need is a blob of solder or grit underneath and it'll leave quite noticeable marks,  geesh, the ol crt telly's, folks use go over the cabinet looking for the slightest scratches...... er worm hole.

Hi - Always mention to the customer that screen removal might cause terminal issues.

Mostly it doesn't, but it's as well to mention if you later catch an edge somewhere.

Like Davy, use a board to the purpose, and brush it well before I drop on the new screen, as otherwise tend to notice a fly on the announcer's nose.

Don't know why it's the nose, but it always is - Chris.

I repaired a LCD telly  many moons ago, the guy picked it up put it in his van behind the front passenger seat, for him to do this his wife, a big lady had to get out, before getting in she slid the seat right back.......' wham' right in to the top corner the seat went - end of telly, no prizes for guessing why.

Give you all a clue, the screen looked like a spiders web. The guy insisted on paying and I ended up with a 'broken telly'. It really don't take much in the right place.
