..... it was a UMC - China crap assembled in eastern europe by folks who normally come over and dig potatoes.

Guess vote remain as we need potatoes for chips - Chris.

Chips yak....  squishy squashy lard wrapped up in printers ink...... of course you did you meant chips made with spuds  :s_laugh:

Last week had a guy with a 49" SammySung almost brand new,  his daughters hubby put it on the wall,  two minutes later...... 'KER RASH' it fell off.  Looked OK apart from cracked trim you could only see screen was cracked when powered up - a big spiders web in bottom right corner.

'Scrap it the guy said', only two strips of LEDs at the top (2 x 58 or so) and non at the bottom, couldn't see how they were fixed to the aluminium plate.

Hi Davy,

Have a 42 Pana where it flashes 1/1 indicating a backlight issue. Side lit with a bank of 60 Leds arranged in tens. Screen off where all Leds light so can't find the duff one.

Thought go Ebay China where the 6920L-0001C strip goes for half the price of a UK one. Getting the strip off is just a matter of heating the aluminium heat sink with a large iron (ancient Solon 150W) then peeling it off, inch at a time. Adhesive backing comes off with petrol as meths doesn't do the trick. New strips come with adhesive strip, but if you mend one, double sided tape does the biz.

As to Potatoes - Live in East Anglia where our brothers from Eastern Europe used to come across and sort our spuds as locals don't care get their hands dirty. Feel Brexit dubious in the extreme - Chris.
