Hello Chris, stranger, are you alright? I'm batting on. Thanks for your comment, just this damn set. I don't take much on now. This set belongs to one of the care workers. Does it sound like the buffer to you? Never had one where the y-sus board is faulty yet the set is perfect in the bottom half. The top half of the picture is there but grossly over bright and there is a definite separation between the two.
I'll tell you what, this site has altered, so many new faces. I heard Doug passed away from Millom, Cumbria. Met him a few times. He used to bring problem sets to me. Glad you're still on here. Take care. Tony

Welcome back Tony, even to me it seems a buffer issue

tv tony:
Hello Michael, nice to be remembered, you OK? Yes, this set belongs to my care centre. Should have kept my mouth shut regarding it. Heavy beggars aren't they? I'm reckoning that as the ysus is providing half a picture it's alright. Yet the top is showing except for the excessive brightness. And it's a sudden change from dark to light, if I sort it I'm applying for an extra bed bath! My only reason for doubting it is the buffer is each section of the upper picture is present, which suggests to me all the chips are ok. And that's really all there is on the buffer. Same as Chris has said it's likely to be the buffer. The y-sus on these are reliable, saying that it was faulty. The feed resistor to the buffers was O\C and the decoupling cap was leaky. The buffer is cheaper so I'll try it, thanks again for your comment. Take care, Tony Walker

Thank you Tony, take care of you too !I hope to hear of you soon

tv tony:
Couldn't find anything wrong on the buffer, there were no lines missing, just excessive brightness in the top section of the picture. Thought I'd through a buffer at it, I'd repaired the ysus, picture restored. Cheers all of you.
