Spilled liquid on Sony KP-53HS30, help please.

If anyone could point me in the right direction to get started fixing this I would greatly appreciate it.  I have downloaded the service manual.  Light blinks 8 times before unit shuts itself off.  I want to do my own research (i'm not too proud to accept step-by-step repair instructions, either  :biggrin2:) but some initial  help would be great.  Thank you
