Samsung Video/DVD combi SVDV55

Hello Samsung experts,

 Have one of these where VCR is fine, but after a DVD has played for a few minutes, play stops and the screen is filled with menu'ish icons. Business repeats after a cooling off period. Probably one for the tip, but if someone knows, others might benefit.
