Samsung LE32R87BD fault
« on: January 23, 2010,04:03:33 »
Hi Everyone.
I have a Samsung LE32R87BD that has developed a fault.
On switching on the sound bleeps and the standby light goes off. The video appears for a second or so and then the screen goes black (backlight goes of also), the set does not go back to standby.
I have pointed a torch at the screen but there is no sign of video.
The set uses power supply panel BN44-00191A which seems to differ from the power supply that causes so much problems with the 1000uF/10V caps.
I could not see any bulging capacitors, but have had all electrolytics out and changed the ones that were suspect on test.
Is this fault likely to be a PSU fault or some other panel (Or the screen itself)?
I am new to LCD technology, but have over 40 years of experience of crt equipment and general electronics.
I would expect modern equipment to last longer than 20 months before needing expensive repairs (Via the dealers). My last crt tv lasted 15 years, with some small diy repairs and is still working as a spare!
Any help would be very much appreciated, as I do not want to scrap an otherwise very good tv (when it was working). Surely not good for the planet.
Thank you.
