Hi all
I have a ps50b850y1fxxs with the same clicking relay problem. But I can't see any signs of capacitor failing. Also when it did work, it often increased the volume by itself so perhaps my issue is failing buttons on the tv? would the eprom short be worth trying without replacing the capacitors? if so which one and which pins?
Please Help!
Regards
John.

:sign0144:many thanks to all, fix worked a treat. replaced the usual suspects (bulging caps)only to discover the clicking relay was'nt cured, found this thread, shorted eeprom as described in at least 20 posts in thread and voila, tv now working a treat, is this some sort of witchcraft?, anyway many thanks to the sole who first discovered this magic spell.

This tread helped me repair a LE40R86BD.
When reading this tread I got the impression that most of you had okey picture after cap change. My picture was so bad so I suspected I had more severe problems.
My story:
1. Tv was clicking - backlight came on for a couple of seconds - no picture
2. I replaced 7 caps in the 5-12v area on the power supply board.
3. No change in behaviour
4. Did eeprom reset by shorting pin 5,6 as described.
5. TV came on and displayed a rainbow of vertical lines over the entire screen.
6 I suspected the eeprom was okey and that I had more severe problems on the t-con board.
7. Thought I anyway should give it a try with eeprom change and I fitted an Microchip 24LC256 (blank from store)
8. TV powered up and is now working perfectly!
I can confirm that Microchip 24LC256 eeprom is working fine if you can't find original atmel version.
