I had the same fault on this model a few weeks ago and traced it to the top right inverter PCB (there are 4) :shout:

Like you I unable to overide count protection with Vol- and input but I had the luxury of another set with a smashed screen at the time.

The manual does not have schematics for them, also they are not in the parts list and as it's a Sharp they would be silly money anyway.

There has been a technical bulletin issued where some of the ccf's tubes have come out of their holders causing this symptom, you could give them a look but don't attempt to dismantle the LCD panel without full ESD protection.

Good Luck.

thanks for the reply guys
stripped screen down in the hope of a loose tube but discovered the screen had a crack right across it,
funny how customers can leave out minor details from there fault discriptions.
glad i charged for the estimate for this waste of time!

Isn't it always the case, they forgot to tell you that the fault occured when little Jimmy let go of the wii remote!!!!

I'm surprised they didn't try to stitch you up for the damage.

Beware with Sharp LED backlit panels also, damaged screen, no backlight :wallbash:

They took the news suspiciously well, suspect they were in denial that there little darling could do such a thing.
