Hitachi 32LD8700

I have a 32LD8700 and I cannot get a DTV menu.

I think the relevant number is MB15E 7 28609*** (someone stuck a bit of tape over the asterisks and I can't tell how many digits are missing.

I downloaded the eeprom file (from here, thank you) and stuck it in, no change.
I replaced the 16PING08 DTV board, no change.

When I press the menu button with DTV selected I get no menu, I get the menu when the TV is displaying any other screen (AV1, AV2, TV etc)

If I factory reset so that the TV is supposed to do a DTV search on power on I get no search.

Any suggestions as to what else I can try. I did wonder if the 16PING08 needs to be Hitachi specific to make it respond to the remote but as this is just a standard Vestel TV I can't really believe that can be the case.

OK so very typically after searching and reading for several hours, I join the forum and then find the answer about a minute after I post. I will replace IC400 as the faults database suggest.

Do I feel like an idiot?

Replaced and voila, I have my DTV back :)

Problem now is that there is no vertical sync and the picture is rolling. I would now try the DTV board that I took out earlier but unfortunately it was the only replacement for IC400 on the main board so I'll have to get another one before I can try that unless someone knows what the problem is.
