Sony LCD TV KDL-40W5500 screen fault

Hi
The fault on this TV is there is picture at the top and bottom of the screen but a band of vertical lines across the centre with no picture.
I have checked the back light tubes and they are all working.
I have reset all the connectors on the Tcon (LVDS) board but no change.
The tuner and audio are working fine.
Any thoughts on the cause of this fault would be welcome.

might be worth changing the tcon itself possibly .worth a try .dave
