LCD programmable remotes
« on: December 16, 2010,11:38:19 »
Hi Folks,

Just a thought. Lots of cheapo sets are a re-selling prob due to lack of cheap RCU availabilty. Tried the programmable 'Click' - really great where it works but 90% of models are missing from CD data base. Internet updating is available but seems a waste of time, and as the supplied CD seems full of ancient 'cylinder' stuff that no-one working for a living and wanting to eat could possibly want.

Anyone know of a better system - in hopes - Chris.

hi chris
only ones I’ve seen that may work are the 'made for you' remotes which you programme from a pc, cpc do a starter kit for about £20 (code hs01315) then each remote is about £9, have not used them myself but have seen many programmed to control acoustic solutions dvd combis which are impossible to get remotes for,
might be worth a punt if feeling flush
good luck

here’s a terible pic

Thanks Daz,

Just noticed that Wilts does another similar to 'Click' and handsets are similarly priced at £5.95 + so will give it a shot for those models not covered.

Thanks again - Chris.

PS Thought I'd note that the 'HR Topcom' is almost exactly the same as the 'Click' has the same info in the data CD but as it's Spanish, not Italian costs 70p more. Off to CPC Farnell for a look.

PPS - ordered CPC jobby then noticed in a Crimble flyer that Wilts now does a 52 key Symphony that at least looks different - well, it's Crimble - could starve by February.

The HR Topcom & the click from wiltsgrove , basically use the same software . ( and seem to work on each others software , which looks identical )

But they do another called a Symphony remote which does different models

We have both but even between the 2 we cant do all the sets that come through the door

When we get stuck , a quick google always brings us to a guy who advertises on ebay etc , and his always do the ones ours cant :( . ( think he charges about £11.99 )

Would like to find out where he gets his from .....

Hi N/E and thanks,

Was really pissed off to discover that two totally dissimilar looking RCUs used the same software last up-dated during Poll-Tax days.

Guess things can only get better - will enjoy my 'Symphony' when it arrives, plus that nifty one from CPC/Farnell that Daz suggested.

Trouble is, as I tend to fettle sets dumped in council recycling skips, where former owners naturally throw the RCU in their black household bin, anything Chinese is a problem.

Just love Vestel and Profilo - well, a bit - Chris.
