Was wondering if your set had the fault where it would start when U696 on the 17MB29 mainboard was warmed with a hairdrier. If so read my updated thread on the Goodmans set. Would appreciate your input if your fault symptom is the same.

hi, john, set did respond to heating, from cold would not start at all, set came on after heating psu panel but was intermittent, not the same result when heating failing caps, after reading goodmans thread which led me to the eprom, so tried  a reset with no joy then some heat with much the same result.

Think the fault on your set was different to mine. u696 is on the edge of the main board and some distance from the psu, although it can be tricky to localise the heat from the hairdrier on to one area only.

Still got this near pristine Power/Inverter board - you could buy it then sell on to the next Vestel chap for a decent profit already - 'Gotta pick a pocket or two' - Chris.

PS - My main board differed from CJ's -well, a different set - but still total crap.
