This TV has a funny faul when I switch it on it is showing on the screen : please call philips service center

I had the same, and used the remote to do a factory reset and all cleared.  It had to be the proper remote if memory serves.

Also these did suffer from power supply issues and got a recall from philips.  If under a year return.
