Obscure fault that I cannot find. Been all over the main board with a rework station and a soldering iron.
Problem is that TV works fine until I turn a device on that is connected to the HDMI port. At that time the audio comes and goes at random no matter which input I am watching, if I select the HDMI the audio is doing the same. Sometimes it's fine but most of the time you are lucky to get 5 minutes out of it if a signal is going in the HDMI.
It is sort of as though the more processing the thing is doing with data into the HDMI (faster moving pictures) the worse the sound breaks up. I2C corruption or something equally obscure.
Checked all the obvious things and reworks3ed all the joints on the power supply and replaced any caps that looked even slightly suspicious. Power supply rails are good and smooth.
I think I will only get a fix for this form someone that has had the same fault and cured it. The TV isn't really worth mending but I hate getting beaten by something like this.
