17PW20.1 Standby from Acoustic Soln LCD37761F1080P

 Hi AS LCD37761F1080P was working fine until last Monday after a whole day watching television we noticed in the evening that it would not change channel or sound. We switched it off but would not come back on. The Blue LED comes on for 5 seconds then flashes once and stays on. Seems like an error code of some sort to me but dunno what it is.

Inside is 17PW20.1 and 17MB26-3. Looked for bulged caps dry joints etc and applied repair kit for C877,C878,C801,C892,C817, C901 and IC829 anyway. No difference telly behaves in the same way.

I notice that after the LED flash the PSU humm sort of goes off like it's been switched off.

Anyone has an idea of what it could be. Since picture and sound were ok for whole day I doubt its the inverter or CCFL and suspect more of a motherboard issue but lost for clues. The Flashing LED is the only thing I can think of.

Hi Fraal,

Have several 17PW20's like that - S/by led stays on and you need to pull the plug B4 you can try again, then it does the same thing again.

Bet some Quuqer knows - Chris.

checks found main smoothing cap o/c

Hi Sparky,

I always check ESR of main cap as I hate doing that PFC phut clean-up job. Admit have had stated problem after PFC problem so suspect there can be a link - Chris.
