Hi Folks
Trying to fix the above TV. basically switch on, directly or via remote, relay clicks in all power supply voltage rails kick up OK on the power supply inverter board then after about 3 seconds or so relay drops out and TV reverts to standby.
Anyone got some ideas??
cheers

Hi, try this, press 'input' and 'volume -' on the TV button panel and hold down, then power the set on. If it powers on you should see a 'K' on the screen, press vol- and prog + and you will enter the service mode. scroll through it and reset the backlight error to 0, then power down and restart. Hopefully it will come on as normal. It

Hi Thanks for the info
Tried the above but no joy. Holding down the button then switching on either by on button or with the mains on the wall by holding the buttons down -- it behaves exactly as the original fault posted.
I did remove the psu / inverter board and mount it so that the feed to the back lights were not connected but left all other connection and made a good ground. but still the same problem
Cant get it on for more that 3 seconds to probe around anything
thanks for help any other ideas much appreciated
cheers

Hi Richie, Try this: fit a shorting link across c7558 (just behind centre inverter transformer) This disables the trip & the set should start. Bear in mind this is NOT a repair & must be disconnected after fault is fixed. Having said that I never did find the fault on mine & took the easy, but expensive, route & changed the panel. Hope this helps, Doug.

Hi Doug /Sparky
Tried the idea with the capacitor Bypass --It did not work but not all bad news!! green light stayed on relay did not drop out and a quick check indicated key voltages were all OK. tried the service mode trick again this time as relay did not drop out kept finger on until something happened--it did it dropped out after 25 seconds. But a second attempt and it kicked in on the service mode again after 25 seconds . Eventually found my way to the lamp fault reset which showed a lot of lamp faults cleared them and then pulled the AC plug out. Removed the shorting link on the capacitor.
Put mains back in and TV now came on OK Picture looks OK not obvious fault with back lights needed country selection and a retune but seems OK set it off with the remote control and it did come back on again. So maybe fault is not cured but will check for lamp fault counts if problem arises again.
bit of luck really I did not think an LCD TV would take longer than a 1950's valve radio to kick in!!
thanks for help both
cheers
