have you checked the blue cap c877/878..15nf.630v.normely they buldged on the sides,so you need to take them out to check..

StormyC:
Thanks very much for the replies.

Just looking at those blue caps you mention - they look fine - just the C835 that looks bad.  When I get the chance I will replace it and see what happens. (working all hours atm - even at work now!).

Again thanks all.

StormyC:
A quick Question regarding the circuit for the power supply.

The pin outs - so Im sure of what im testing - pins for PL801 1 thru 5 are 24V and 6-10 are ground?

Very much a novice so any help appreciated.

Bambooz:
Yep. They just used multiple thin wires instead of one large one to deliver the same amount of current.

StormyC:
Me again....

OK, as the power supply had that visibly bad cap I replaced it but I wasnt able to get anything out of the 5v pin(s) so instead of paying £25 ish for the kit i went ahead and bought a new power supply, the exact model, 17PW20 V2 (£35), popped that in but still have the exact same fault  :41:.

Im confidant that the new power supply is working fine as I was able to get all the readings correct.....  I think it was because of my noobness that didnt test the old one properly....

OK the BIG question: Is this TV a scrapper, is there somthing else easy to check or should I take it to a pro?
