Philips 32pf9830/10 turnoff itself
« on: September 21, 2011,15:05:43 »
my two and half years old 32inch LCD tv from Phillips with pixel plus (whatever that is ), when i start watching it will work for about 30 minutes, then poof it turns off, 5 secs later turns back on. After the first time it does this it will continue doing this every 2 minutes or less, on and off. I did install the firmware update but its still doing this. Also the newest update for my tv is 1.5 yrs old. People are still complaining of this after the update.

I took the TV apart see if it was dusty in there or maybe a dead fan or something. I thought this was heat related since after cold start it would work for 30 minutes or so before it started its on/off cycle. But nothing, inside is clean with no dust build up or anything. any solution to fix it  please

first stop's to check the power supply for swollen capacitors on the output ( near where the cable comes off the power supply to go into the main board ) if you've got electrolitic breakdown or leakage you'd get this effect . The second thing I'd be looking for would be dry joints on the invertor ht contact about the output plugs/ output  contact of the transformers could be heating up and loosing contact. A good look about's the best possible tool for diagnosing this kind of thing. Another thing you can try is stick the tv on with the back  off, wait on it to heat and fault, turn off the lights and close the blinds and watch the invertor when it powers up for wee sparks to indicate where a dry joint might be .Good luck
