17pw16-2 Reliability kit
« on: November 21, 2011,11:35:18 »
Got a 17pw16-2 symptoms are the backlights not firing up...intermitant

Looking at the relaibility kits it asks you to change

C877 C878

If I remember right they are 2 x 15f 650v polyster box capacitors...the trouble I am having is on this PSU C877 is not present and c878 is not the usual its a polyster film type.

Do I  just replace C878 or would you recommend I get two new capacitors and fit them instead

I cant remember where I seen it but I am  sure there is a mod for one of these boards where you replace one component for something else....is this what someone has done

Thanks for any help

Check the voltage of the 24V output for the inverters.

If it's wrong, it will probably be because of one of those capacitors.

If it's bang on 24V the problem may not be the PSU

Cheers people fitted all the caps and left C878 alone and the tv is now working fine

Dont know if someone can answer this...something I did notice before I did the repair, when I did get the TV to fire up the remote had a mind of its own...press the volume button and the source would change press P+ and it would operate another button...after doing the repair this fault seems to have cured itself.

Is/could this be related????
