Samsung LE46M86BDX...Intermitant Fault
« on: November 25, 2011,14:39:43 »
Hi....again

I have this TV and it has an intermitant fault...When you sometimes turn the TV on the backlights illuminate and the TV shuts down again...it looks a little like an inverter transformer fault..the trouble is if you leave the tv for 5minutes and plug it in there is no problem and wont be another fault with it, could last for 1 day or 2 weeks before it does it again.

I have checked for dry joints everywhere and all seems to be ok...the only thing someone maybe able to advise me on is on the "Left" Inverter (SSB460WA22L-Rev 4) has a random transformer middle of the board....I cant get any readings out of the dam thing...apart from that I am screwed

As always any pointers much appreciated

" You can drive the circuit by force when LCD panel lamps or invereter is faulty by connecting pin 2 of the connector going from the main board to the PSU (CN1101 ) to pin 4 of the same connector "

in other words short over pins 1 and 2 of the main board to power supply connector

Strictly speaking its in the software as a servicing aid to allow you to identify which coil set or tube is going down however that said your not by passing the fuses or fire resistors so i wouldnt imagine fire's a possibility i would think it far more likely the invertor will eventually short out a mosfet and blow the fuse if indeed there is a fault but their temperamental sets and seem to go into fault mode all too readily when no significant fault is apparent.
