Hi Folks, and thanks for help.

Found that D253 (VDYG971S8R) on power board was S/C and the fets on Z-Sus seem OK reading 10 Ohms one way and infinity the other at top test point to deck.

Can't find anything on D253, any ideas as to a substitute - BY127 perhaps ? - Thanks - Chris.

PS - removing PS to check - D253 diode short disappeared, find same power feed also goes to Y-Sus where several FETs seem S/C - have the sinking feeling of that lost pound - any more thoughts, Plasma folks - LCD/LED/LSD Screens for me, far greener and fewer technical probs - Chris.

brainstorm:
Hi Chris

If you have S/C Fets on the scan board(Ysus) then you need to remove the buffer boards(SU and SD) and check if there are any S/Cs from the ribbon connectors to earth, you will also need to get a magnifying glass and scrutinise the screen for blown pixels.

If you have a blown pixel then put the back on and forget it!

If you have a S/C on one of the buffer boards then you will need to replace the faulty buffer and the Ysus board. If you replace the Ysus and you have a faulty buffer then you can 'blow' the new Ysus board, which is the opposite to a samsung or LG

Good Luck

Brian

Hi Brian, and thanks a lot.

Had a word with cust about probable cost, he got on to the Co-oP, they got on to Panasonic and a freebie job is in the air - as should be after just two years.

Got a nice bottle - Chris.
