back rectangle on screen lg di-28z12

Hi,

I have a LG DI-28z12 crt tv that has just started to display a black rectangle on screen.  sometimes if I quickly switch the tv off and on it disappears, any ideas as to what the problem could be.

Not sure what this could be but I think i've seen a similar fault which was cured by reprogramming the data in the memory i.c.

Presumably this was done by a service engineer and could not be done by me
