Help please... is SAMSUNG EEPROM corrupt?? Or is there something I can check ??

Hi, I have samsung LE40c580 LCD with no function (apparently no pic/sound). Symptom was flashing led when power applied and not switching on. Without testing properly (doh) I dived in to power board and found some bulging caps. As a precaution I replaced all 13 electrolytics (accept big yellowuns that esr'd fine anyway). Now switching it on, this time paying more attn to led flashing.  Led flashes 5 times from power up then goes out. Pressing any front panel makes it flicker dimly as if it was working but no pic or on screen or whistle from inverter board. Thinking it may be working I applied a source through hdmi. Pressing the source button a few times I was rewarded with sound but no picture presumably as I selected the correct sorce.  Sound can be turned up/down but no image shown, no flickers or dim pic or sign of any backlight working. ??? I've checked tested for dc voltages around inverter board (long thin board on back rhs) and I'm getting 5v rail.  Could this be EEPROM causing sound no picture? If so will shorting bus pins as mentioned elseware chance it getting pic to come on??? AA it's obviously partially functioning.  Or can I buy a basic programmed EPROM from someone that may make it work. Then set it up in service mode?  I guess I could really do with a manual.  Can anyone help please? Happy fixing.... Tecra_user

If you only got 5v going into inverter.Its not being fed from power supply.thats where id be looking if i were you.good luck.

Just thought,have you tried connecting tv by scart to another tv.This will tell you if its inverter,or mainboard/eeprom at fault.

Hi thanks for your responses.  Before I swap out EPROM I've had a good hunt round net and not found anyone else reporting EEPROM problems in this set. Ive found loads of problems in other samsungs with diff chassis though. Anyone got a manual for this chassis. I think it's just a hd version of lexxc530 so a copy of that might help me? I've not found any pdf manual sites listing a manual for le40c580 either. It can't be that rare, tescos were selling it by the pallet :-/ The 5v was marked as 5v on inverter board input connector btw. Didn't check ht inverter lines. I'll scope around board for any trace of video after processing. A service manual would def help though. I'll look to see what EPROMs fitted too. Maybe I'll order one in. :-( Paul
