17pw15-8 power supply

 :sign0144: As my name says I am kinda new to this,what I need help with is on the 17pw15-8 power supply,what transistor is fitted to Q809.  I have a repair kit and i have been given the choice of either LM78L OR BC33.
I am unable to find a conversion chart that tells me which of the two components is the transistor and which is the voltage regulator as they both have three legs,but i do appreciate that q809 is a transistor,can anybody advise please also which pin has to have an external voltage to switch the power supply on ???
