Samsung UE40C6005 dead
« on: September 06, 2012,00:02:47 »
Okay, so i have an UE40C6005 which won't start.

It started out with the clicking noises, but now all I get is a blinking power led (blinks 5 times).

So I found a bad capacitor and replaced it, still the same thing.. so I tried resetting the eeprom without success.
I've been searching the web for some guidance for countless of hours without any answers!

Is there anyone who have any thoughts?

This model I beleive is sold only in the Sweeden and Denmark area. You may get more specific responses if you provide the details of the Power Supply and Main Board since they may well be common amoungst many models.

A general easy starting point however, having found one bad capacitor already, is to have a good look around the power supply unit for any other suspect looking capacitors and replace them if you have not already. Without the required voltages from the PSU, nothing will work.  To go further, the information as above will be required.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the answer!

The power supply seems to be working, I get a 5.3 v standby and i tested all caps with a multimeter.
I managed to get the backlight fired up by creating a s/c, so it should be fine?

The main board is called BN41-01444b I can take some pictures if necessary!

All the PSU output voltages need to be correct. The Service Manual shows what to expect where.

Everything seems to be correct. I downloaded the service manual and had my friend test the board earlier today.

This leaves me with the main board, is there anything i can try to do? Or is getting a new board my only option?
They seem pretty hard to find.

You mention you reset the EEPROM, assuming you did that correctly and nothing changed, then you can try a blank replacement EEPROM, and if that does not work, a preprogrammed EEPROM to rule out a failed EEPROM. Maybe you can elablorate on what you did.

If you are absolutely certain the voltages are satisfactory, and if you feel it worthwhile and accept there are no guarantees, then source a replacement of the main board. After finding the PSU to be OK and without a replacement PSU to be certain as far as possible, I'd be looking towards the main board.

A local TV engineer may be able to assist, or someone else may have some further advice.

Failing that, unfortunately I don't have a main board available but someone else may if you put a message in the wanted section of this site.

Another option, the main board is available from suppliers in the UK. One such which will dispatch to Sweden by courier is below:

Good luck. Hope this helps,

I used that guide when i tried to reset eeprom, is that incorrect?

I ordered a board from some sketchy site based in Poland for about $30 with shipping included.
Not even sure they will send it out to Sweden tho.. but I selected C.O.D as payment, so it's not that big of a deal if i don't get it.
