Hi Folks,

Note there have been several mails over the years about this set not firing up although S/by 5v was present.

Seems main board needs to switch PS relay to connect mains input to main, mains bridge recifier.

Had one in today with the usual problem where S/by 5v is present, but set won't turn on, and there are no obvious faults in the main power sector.

Wonder if anyone has yet sussed it.

My notes say the main smoothing block is quite often o/c, and check all other electrolytics.

This one came in after cust reported loss of DVB channels, where a retune initially did the biz. Next time it was no go with S/by supply present, so was naturally suspicious of the Main board.

Power/Inverter seemed OK, so replacement Main ordered from Fleabay.

Checked M/cap and reads a little less than stated 300Mfd (284Mfd) with an ESR of 0,25 Ohms, so could be a prob - will advise after panel replacement.

PS - As to the other caps, board looked so pristine with nothing brown or bulgy, so didn't bother - could be a mistake. Note that several other Quuq'ers have had a similar problem over the years, so guess it's not particularly unusual but no-one yet has given a 'Quuq' solution.
