Just repaired one..... just wanted a re-solder on the main power supply. These are Tesco tellys made in the backstreets of China I understand, can't recall psu ident though.

I think what happens is a spike comes along takes out the control chip and blows the s/b pulse transformer thin primary winding.... as well as blowing the top of the chip.

Seen this fault umpteen times, the last one was in a microwave oven - 18 months old customer not very pleased as no spares was available.

Another Teknica I did had a CD board fault.... so to save £££££££ I just removed it's supply plug.

Telly only went back today.
