Well OldLes, happy wife, happy life, and you've gotta respect her opinion, after all look who she married..LOL. Thanks for the heads-up on the BL-ON source, but I was trying to trace3 it on your behalf.
Soldier on.

OldLes:
Downunder, " but I was trying to trace it on your behalf."
Yes, I realise that. But having found an alternative route, I thought I should mention it.
She has had me pulling up part of an unwanted hedge today, but she did move the stack of bricks!
At least I found time to pour acid in the new 'bike battery, and give it its preliminary charge. Battery acid still stings, just as it has done for the last 55 years to my knowledge!
Les.

Hi have one of there in my shed
no boards in it and cracked screen but had good lamps your welcome to the panel if you want to cover postage
Paul

OldLes:
Paul, thanks for offer, but I am sure I have plenty of tubes here. Before then I need to open the screen up and look to see if there are any pink ends as previously suggested by In-Focus et al.
I must be honest, I still have not got my head around the logic of these damn sets, but I intend to do so. My very next task is to see if the 3.3 v leaves the IC1719 pin 18, or if it gets lost on its way, just as I did whilst trying to trace it!
Les.
