« on: August 14, 2013,08:15:51 »
Hello, interesting one, when tv is switched on, the menu displays straight away and the volume goes right down. the menu stays on but goes on changing on it's own. I have changed the main board, tried another psu  but still the same, can it be the: switch, menu, volume  board. please help, thank you all

Well, you have narrowed it down, disconnect the side switches to isolate, they can become leaky.

Is this a Vestel? If so are the manual controls tact switches or touch?

Thanks It is a vestel and the side buttons are tact not soft touch, in fact I took no chances, I changed the side buttons, and still the same. I have not sat on the remote either. The only boards I have not changed are the lvds and inverter boards, and the inverter is working fine as the backlights come on and bright.

You say you've isolated the side control pcb, I presume by pulling the two pin plug from the main pcb? If so then this is unusual, side control issues are usually due a leaky zener diode or the switches themselves.

Pulling the plug should restore normal working but obviously by remote only.

In Focus thank you, bot I have isolated the side switch, but as I said it s still crazy, it is not working normally at all. When I plug the the set into the mains socket the blue led comes on and after few seconds the set comes on automatically, the picture comes on and the volume, but then the volume turns itself down and the picture goes, then no signal, then the menu comes up and start changing on its own, please any suggestions.
thank you all

Just to be clear which chassis we are dealing with, what is the main PCB type number e.g. 17MB??

Also what happens if you remove the IR receiver/LED cable from the main PCB?
