First repair - LCD327601HDF / 17PW20 Power Problem
« on: December 05, 2013,16:12:28 »
Hi,

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read this post. This TV used to have the usual flashing LED stuck in standby problem, however it was then taken to a repair shop by the previous owner, who decided that the repair costs were too high. Since then the TV has shown no signs of life.

Based on the original problem, I intended to either replace the power board, or preferably buy a repair kit and do it myself. However, before I do that I would like to clarify whether or not there is a wire loom missing from this unit? I have attached photo of the board and a close up of where it appears more wires could possible plug into. Is this the likely cause of there being no sign of life? Blown fuse in the plug? Further problems to the power board?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Matt

the psu is used in many sets some will not use all the connectors
they also have diffrent power ratings make sure you replacement is from a 32 or 37 inch set
as small sets have lower power psu

Thanks for the replies!

The full board number is 17PW20 v1 010507

The TV can now reach stand by, but gets no further.

I am going to begin with a repair kit from eBay, and if that fails, replace the board. Will keep you updated.

Thanks again,

Matt

hi..before you replace the whole power supply try to isolate first. if the problem is in power supply or in the mainboard.you can test the power supply without the main board.since you have standby..search for the triggering pin in the power supply.usually the label is POWER_ON,PWR_ON,MAIN_ON,SW_POWER,ENABLE,DATA and etc.use 1k to 10k resistor, connect the resistor from standby volts to the triggering pin,and voltage check if there is output for 12v 18v or 33v for inverter.make sure to remove all the connector going to other board before you do it.if you get 12v output and some other output it means your power supply is working, probably you have a problem in the main board or in inverter board.
