Technika Tesco special
videoman:
I have had two of these sets in for repair and both with the same symptom which is DVD not loading and clicking. After changing the DVD unit to a known good one same symptoms so its time to get the meter out, the 5Volt feed to the DVD unit kept on going well below 3V and the DVD stopped working I then connected an exterior 5Volts and then the unit work fine. I am unable to find out why the voltage drops but as a "FIX" there is a fixed 5Volts point right next to the power plug that feeds the DVD and the unit then works fine as does the rest of the TV Any help in finding out why the voltage drop would be helpful?

Hi Videoman,
Most folks know that Technika DVD players expire just after the guarantee runs out.
Let's admit - They're total crap.
Serious computer folks encase the mechanism to prevent ingress of dust, and cheap a the price.
Technika seem to use the cheapest rubbish available, where dust is welcomed to forward the next buy, but after the guarantee has expired.
Would suspect that if a cheapy 'For You' mechanism was mounted in a dust free case, there wouldn't be so much of problem - Chris.
PS - Am impressed that you bother do voltage checks, hope something useful ensues.

You're not seriously trying to repair this quality dvd loader. In turnip-speak, an anagram of "this" is "..........
Well, best of British. Have you considered Plan B: Get a DVD Player (they're cheap enough) and connect it to a suitable AV input of the TV.

Hi Bruce, You're becoming whimsical - unusual for folks formerly expatriated for sheep stealing,
Guess Botany Bay sorted your lot, you might become true Brits' again, as Scotland is about to try leg-it while the remaining gas slowly flows.
Must admit some Northern menders feel that Salmond is total crap - Wouldn't know, as Norfolk is known by some as God's county. As a humanist, have doubts, but veggies are doing well as we are are in sort of rain shadow.
Guess need to check local forecasts if thinking moving here - Acres locally available - Chris.
