Grundig GV32DVD Code to sort.
« on: June 04, 2014,11:28:33 »
Hi folks,

Have one of these in where RCU was duff. Resoldered most usual RCU bits but no better  - so replacement from Wiltsgrove.

As programmable RCU's didn't quite have the model - Not surprised, as they are total crap, giving only popular models that you can find anywhere.

Not mentioning names - seems most all are rubbish, with updates total crap, as mending folks need them for odd models not fully coverered by Wiltsgrove  or Ebay, and no useful updates are supplied.

Programmable RCU folks are still pushing CRT jobbies and VCRs - Guess they should get a bit modern, maybe some analogue Laser discs, at the very least.

Was wondering, as set requires some sort of code to do any biz -  If anyone knows the initial code.

Guess could be the usual four zeros - maybe not, and it's not a Vestel with that famed code - Thanks - Chris

Guess 'Australian Bruce' might have useful suggestions, he usually does, when not swiping seriously endangered Wabbits or fish, nibbling those precious Coral reefs.

Forgot to mention - bought the whole range of 'Do for anything universals' and found them total crap, as they did rather less than that a specific cheapy couldn't manage.

Chris - Le Turnip.

Hi Jordan,

And thanks.

Was merely complaining that programmable remotes don't quite do what we require - Like function for lesser known models.

No problems with the RCU as Wiltsgrove stock them. ChasHyde is tidy but rather pricey, charging many times more than most other suppliers for perhaps the same item. Must naturally be Gold Plated - Still go Wiltsgrove for saving the needy pound.

Wiltsgrove me'self - Just need the repair cash. - Chris.

So Turnip, I consulted my wise old Bunyip, who muttered something about Grundigs using many perverse passwords to keep recalcitrant techs on the ball. Some he suggested were 888888, 6666 or 8202. Of course these may be a bum steer considering his senility and possibility of alsheimers, but all you can do is give them a whirl. He sends his compliments as he loves turnips for dessert.

A few years ago (5?) I bought a "One for all 4" off Ebay, model URC7040. It had "Free updates for 12 months". Quite a good range of codes, but I needed one not listed so emailed them. They asked for full details, said it needed upgrading, so I sent it to them. It returned updated (Eeprom I assume) and the code they gave worked.
Later I needed another unlisted code (Cello 32" I think), which they emailed to me. Not all the functions worked, so I emailed again, and received instructions on re-programming certain functions, so it was now more use.
Maybe if you get a more up to date one than the URC7040, and ask whenever you have a tricky one, it will give you good service.
I have at least six others, some more than 20 years old, two bought in the last two years, very cheap from the "One pound twenty" shop (notice Isle of Man gets the 20% mark up compared with you UK guys). They were probably on a par with the ones you are complaining about.
You can see their stuff here:--   http://www.oneforall.co.uk/universal-remotes.html
Prices from £10 to £60, but my Ebay purchase was a lot less at the time. They certainly have genuine backup.
Les.

Hi Bruce,

Gather a Bunyip is a strange animal resembling an Aussie with a wobbleboard and natch the extra leg.

Bit cautious of these strange creatures as they try sell you electronic crap, and also do crude pictures of our beloved Queen, some say with a yard-brush, and with Creosote.

Guess Australia might have something for us - ah - Judith Durham - Tasty

Hi - Young Les,

Have thought after buying several programmable RCUs that they're are all total crap.

Naturally they have the codes for sets we can easily get from Wiltsgrove.

They don't care to update for models not supported by folks who supply replacements.

Updates give nothing useful, ever.

Guess suppliers (several) are well relaxed, as they don't seem to care a shit - Chris.

Someone recently gave me a Chung Chop URC, principally because it wouldn't work their TV. In the time I've had it, I've only been able to get it to operate 1 TV i.e. it's not worth a chop, let alone a chung one.
Should toss it to the Bunyip, along with a Turnip....believe they're tops in a pot roast.

Hi folks,

The Wiltsgove RCU appeared a day after ordering it, did the biz and didn't require any code to sort the set. Also ordered a heap of 'Henry' bags (£5.00 for ten) in case any Bunyips should feel England might be the biz, so can hoover them up before they discover a new god, and give us 'Old World' athestic folks even more troubles.

Thanks Bruce, not yet had the joys of a 'Chung Chop' but gather trips to foreign parts get some elderly anglophiles to raise the 'flag' - again - Chris.

For me - Turnip wine is the biz.
