Samsung LE40R88BD clicking
« on: August 14, 2014,12:18:36 »
Hi guys , got the usual fault with the caps then reset the eeprom after shorting pins 5 & 6 out . Thought thats it put the back on . Connnected the HDMI cable and pushed the source button to HDMI the tv worked . Turned the tv off and on and its as if the eeprom gets corrupted again but only when i connect the HDMI and turn the tv off and on. If i dont connect the HDMI cable after resetting the eeprom no problem. Any ideas ,havent changed the eeprom thought its maybe a setting in the service menu i could adjust

Hi kennyc,

Reinitialising the eeprom thus, does not necessarily restore all the options to suit the set's own blueprint.
You could try entering the service mode and executing a Factory Reset. Failing that, you need to select the Option Table in the service mode and make sure all options listed correspond to those listed in the service manual for your particular model. There are usually 3 HDMI options contained therein, but I've never taken note, only to make sure that each option matches the service manual. There are usually a few that are incorrect after the eeprom has been corrupted by the power supply caps.

Hi downunder . Went into the option menu because couldnt find factory reset option . Somebody posted a complete list of what the service menu on a working tv should be set at a couple of years ago. In option number 2 in the service menu the only diff was the screen was set at 32 inch instead of 40. The 3 hdmi settings  should be 1,1,&9. The last one was at 63 so changed to 9 and reset and its working. Cant remember who posted it but am sure someone will post his name and the date

A good outcome, kennyc, and kind of you to post results. Factory reset is not in the Options menu. Should be in top line of the service menu that first appears on the screen. A moot point now.

Hi Fixit now ,if you put in the search box "samsung clicking relay "and go to pages 2,3 and 4 there are attatchments that people give you for the service menu settings . The problem with mine may have been the setting for screen was on 32 rather than 40 inch and the 3rd hdmi setting was not on 9. As downunder says these settings are on the options page of the service menu
