Hi Rob,
Tricky one. Could say change the main board, but might I suggest you enter the service mode, click on 2nd item in the menu (CONTROL), and scroll down till you locate WD COUNT [Watchdog Count]. If it reads any number above 0, main board should be replaced, but prior to doing that, do a factory reset by returning to 1ST item in menu (OPTION) and locating factory reset. Re-enter the service mode and you'll find WD COUNT has been reset to 0. Then locate WATCHDOG, and set it to OFF. See if the TV behaves after that.

Thank you Bruce... unfortunately the tv will not let me get to menu mode as it keeps switching from the dtv to no signal to source mode ..with the remote not working the tv ( flashing red light )

If the mode is changing of it's own accord you could try dis-connecting the front panel touch controls I have had several sets with these going faulty.

Best wishes,
Geoffrey.

Thank you Geoffrey, I tried this but alas TV still blinks red lights .. the psu board is a BN44-00339B, can I use another psu board from say a Samsung 32" tv or are do they have to be the same ?

Hi,
I've started to get a lot of weird faults due to the power supply PFC stage.
What's the voltage across the main smoothing capacitor?
Should be about 390v if the PFC stage is functioning correctly.
If not, check resistor chains feeding the PFC IC etc.
Attached PS Sheet
