LG RHT497H Hard Drive+ DVD recorder

Hi Folks,

Have one of these in where machine won't eject customer's DVD-R as it keeps looking at it and makes no decision as how to progress - for hours.

Thought to manually remove the disc and try a homebrew 'North by North-West' - played no probs. Shoved in a blank DVD+R and machine asked if I wanted it initialised - I didn't, so it ejected and I replaced initial doubtful disc where it locked up again.

Probably not important, but as there were no DVB channels stored - rescanned - OK - Guess cust freaked and pressed every button - Recall my mum did after Terry Wogan took a break, way back in the 80's.

Not met an LG HDD/DVD recorder B4 but recall some Panasonic machines got into similar paddy with duff discs.

Any Thoughts ? - Chris.

Hello Chris,
                   An old friend of yours mentioned you yesterday, Daz, anyway, your 497, what version f\w does it have? Also jamming up with one disk in particular is not unheard of on these machines. Clean the loading switches mounted on the underside of the deck as a precautionary measure.

Cust collected today - Reason DVB not tuned in - She's Russian and uses a dish for latest Putin exploits.

If comes back will check those switches, but guess it didn't load as there was recorded crap on the R-W disc.

Mentioned, as happens with Panasonic machines - met a few.
