Samsung LE40C530 no backlight
Turnip:
Hi JLB,
Seems like an inverter/backlight problem but as you have replaced the inverter, wonder if it has the 25v supply from the P/S and if inverter is being turned on ? - Chris.
JLB:
The Inverter socket CNI802 has the feed, but both Inverter boards seem turned off...
By using both power boards, their CNI801 HV looks completely dead at 0V. It is marked as "800Vrms"...
Davy:
Looking around the inverter wiring plugs or the power supply board there should be leads to the inverter board is there a marking 'BLON' (back light ON)?
If so get a a 3V battery (I use a 3.7v battery from a scrap camera), negative to metal work and it's positive to BLON.. with the set powered up the back lights ought to come on, BLON is the switch for back lights.... should you feel 'finicky' use a 10 ohm 0.25W metal film resistor in series with one of the battery leads.
Should the back lights appear then the problem is elsewhere, power supply board or main board.
Don't go any higher than about 4 volts though.
Sounds stupid but nowt's stupid with telly's have you tried a reset?
Dave
Keith:
Could be a faulty ccfl, if they don't strike in time, the inverter will detect a fault and go into safety mode. The 800V is an AC voltage for striking the ccfl's.

Hi,
Possibly not useful, but I use an old fashioned neon screwdriver near inverter trannies, if they have a try, it lights up before the backlights do - Chris.
