Panasonic DMR-ES30V - No front display.

(1/3) > >>

Turnip:
Hi folks,

Have one in where replaced suspect caps C9125(680/6.3) C9126(680/10) C1209(680/10) C1223(680/10) and C1108(33/35)

Now functions but with no front display - Could I have missed a cap maybe ?  Also tried re-tune DVB but guess it doesn't have any.

Thanks for thoughts - Chris.

Hi Chris,

The displays in Panasonic dvd recorders are protected by circuit protectors. I've come across this many times. In the ES30, it's IP37501 located on the Digital PCB.

Look for a 5-pin IC37504 near one of the longer edges of the board. The fuse is close to it. Very hard to see (tiny) with our ancient eyes. Think you'll find it o/c. No idea of its value, but it's usually under-rated.

Only once have I ever had a faulty FL display. Service manual is on the forum.

FL display cable goes to the Main board, thence to the digital board.

Trying, Bruce

Hi Jordan and Bruce,

Felt a bit daft when I discovered I hadn't got the central front panel plug into the socket, as the front panel bulged a bit, so suspected wrong assembly - Sorted.

Took a while to discover it was analogue, though no DVB was indicated - Thought 2005 was a bit modern, but guess no so - Just Analogue

Thanks a lot, cust happy even though he didn't know either, just uses as a DVD player - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thought occurred to me today that you may not have the bottom of the front panel pushed home.

Anyway, you spurred me on to check one I've been keeping for spares. A new MR4020 reg and fuse got it operational. DVD is OK, but VCR gives a "watery" looking pix. I've switched SQPB off and swapped out the VCR deck twice, but still the same.

Have you encountered this phenomenon before?

Bruce
