Title: Old Zenith - issue with matching transformer

Hi everyone.

I bought an old B&W Zenith CRT television with the intent of hooking up my coaxial feed (cable box, VHS, or DVD) to it.

Instead of the TV having a coaxial input, it's got some other hookup for the analog antenna, which looks like my pic below. A guy at Radio Shack told me that I needed a matching transformer to bridge the signal so I bought a set (male & female types? - see pic) from him.

I disconnected the two antenna wires (with the prong connectors from the back and tried to work some combinations of changing connections between VHF and UHF, using either transformer, and turning channels and other knobs.  The TV also has Vertical Hold and Horizontal Hold knobs on the back.  No luck with any of it, although I got some clear audio.

Is this an instance of just knowing the proper combination of hookup and dials or do I need another component for this?

Thanks,
Alan
