Title: Tiny ps-42d8 using Samsung ps-423-sd v3.1 power board.
Post by: bonesy on July 13, 2016,08:15:01
Hi folks,I know the easy answer to this is new secondhand power board, but I'm trying to do someone a favor.Sometime back, the customer had this set repaired(power board)Both R8009 & r8010 have been replaced with wrong resistors, they should be 6.8 ohm 7watt,but were replaced with 11ohm 11 watt, much bigger physically than the original type resistors. This over time has caused the relay plastic cases to melt,so now no function. What I'm looking / asking, has anyone got a scrap board, with intact proper 6.8 ohm resistors & the relays,so I can rebuild this board.I'll happily pay for parts & postage. The old fella who owns the set hasn't really got a lot of cash,so not really much in it for me,but he's granddad to one of my old customers,so trying to help out.Set was pick up by van & taken out of the county for repair last time around ten months ago & I think he paid a large chunk for repair, usual thing though can't remember who when what.
Many thanks John.

Hi John, Wow thats a blast from the past!. Sorry can't help but I do remember the debacle over these sets when they were new, they were absolutely atrocious and destroyed Tiny and their reputation (if they ever had one).

Amazing to hear of one lasting this long, see the link to read about the disaster this set was. https://www.avforums.com/threads/if-you-have-a-tiny-plasma-then-please-read.180302/

Yes nasty product, was just trying to do an old fella a good turn.Crazy thing is I've found the right resistors with one company, very cheap but unless you can get order to £30 then £16 delivery charge, same with relays.Parts would total out over £50,can buy a psu for around that give or take a couple of quid.I think in the short term I'll break he's heart & right it off,cos at the end of the day sets had a good run & may now become a liability.Funny thing is,one of our major corporate clients has four of these wall mounted in their call center which shows the center staff who's made the most / least calls during the day. They've all got screen burn, but have never gone wrong. These sets come from a time when Plasma / LCD product was at a premium & any old crap was retailed at lower prices to fill the gap in the market.I was looking yesterday, you can buy Panasonic B grade set 55" LED bells & whistles for £699!32" probably Vestel Panasonic £123 crazy.
