Hi all,
I have shelved this for a while now but finding this forum I will resurrect the subject though my memory of my previous endeavours is very sketchy. As I said, the picture is very dark, murky & blotchy.
When placed face down it recovered but soon lost it again.
There was charring off the neck yoke rgb loom on 1 connection.
I think it is probably a s/c between heater/cathode.
Any precedents appreciated.
It's a nice widescreen HD ready hi res slimline CRT and there are no WS models in the faults list on here..
thanks

hi axzed
its been a long while since ive seen one of these sets, but if i remember correctly the tubes were a stock problem from day one, not quite as unreliable as a philips tube, but not far off. also the lop transformers and tube sockets gave problems. but you never know some other quuq folk might have other ideas?
good luck

Hi, another quuq folk,
All that murky and blotchy stuff makes me think of either 'Cold Comfort Farm', or a failure in the A1 area. Cathode/heater shorts usually show up as bright flashes of a particular colour before over current causes set to revert to S/by.
Suspect charring - possibly L/Scan connection mentioned might be secondary, as with line scan, either you've got it or you haven't. Any in-between situation usually features smoke, at some point - Chris.

Hi,
Saw a few monster wide screen Samsungs when i was working in Greece and have to agree with Daz about the tubes! But also check the electrolytics on the digital board
