Title: PDP505XDE Green Dots in the Centre of the Screen
Post by: sarnade999 on August 08, 2014,03:47:48
Hi, The TV is approx. 9 years Old, and just recently I am getting a cluster of green dots (pixels) roughly in the centre of the screen. These are very noticeable and dense on red backgrounds and visible on Skin Colour. Barely see them on other colours. This is the same on all input sources. I have replaced the Y Drive PCB, But this made no difference.
Any Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi sarnade999,

Could be the control (logic) board, but I'm inclined to think it's the display panel. Had similar on a NEC 50"
plasma and board changes made no difference.

Ok, Thanks downunder. Do you think those dots would be present all the time if it was the Display panel ?. These dots are not present on other colours apart from reds and skin colour.

Looks like a group of dead or dormant pixels. You could check the menu for a Whitewash option, but that is mainly for screen burn-in (image retention).

You could be right, Unfortunately I don't have the whitewash option on the menu...Thanks again

Are all the voltages correct from the power supply the VA, VS,
also, did you do the setup procedure after you replaced the y pcb
The procedures are normally shown the the service manual
