Title: Samsung PS-50Q97HDX/XEU
Post by: norman on January 21, 2009,07:31:20
Hi guys, this tv has a problem three quarters of the way down. It looks like every other line is missing with a snowy effect and vertical streaking in this area. I suspect the logic board or a PDP fault, any suggestions welcome.Norman

C'mon guys, surely someone must have a clue. I have repaired a lot of plasma tv's but have not seen this fault before, Any suggestions welcome before I make a potentially expensive diagnosis. Thanks in advance. Norman

Hi John, I tried the number I had for Samsung and they gave me an alternative number which I can never get an answer. I spoke to their customer services who said they didn't think Samsung had a tech dept, they refered me to the nearest service depot. Would you please pm me with the number you have as I am not getting anywhere with this tv. Many thanks, norman

Hi Norman,I found the Samsung details as follows-Tel (personal phone number removed by moderator) head of technical is Suki Nandra and his email add. is  s.nandra@samsung.com  . He helped me back in Aug 08. If you are a self-employed tv engineer he might be of assistance. best of luck John.

MOD EDIT:

Then phone number supplied is apparently a private telephone number.  I have not deleted the email address as it appears to be a samsung (ie business) email address.

Hi John, Thanks for the reply, that is the same tel number I have, it just rings and you don't get a reply. I will try an Email and see how that goes. Many thanks. Norman.

Hi Guys, This set has been returned to the customer. It was suggested to me that the set had been knocked over (something the customer didn't tell me) and as such I think the display panel is faulty. Many thanks, Norman

Hi, I tried removing the bottom drive board on this but the fault remained on what was left of the pic. I contacted Samsung and a few things were suggested to no avail. Norman
