Title: Flat audio belts
Post by: Turnip on April 04, 2015,11:29:49
Hi Folks,

Having quite a few decent cassette machines in where finding replacement flat belts is a bit of a problem.

Seems that suppliers measure them in several different ways - Folded length - Cut length or diameter, which is difficult as most don't state which.

But seems size codes exist - AVXXXX or BXXXX Where if I knew what they represented might get an idea.

Looked about but could find no clue - Any thoughts ?  - Chris.

Hi Chris,

There are no universal codes for belt size, the suppliers order codes can give an indication sometimes!
Most are diameter size, turntable belts are sometimes the circumference.
CPC have a good selection, all diameter. Wiltsgrove and VAS also have a good range, again listed by diameter, but they only supply to the trade. Don't be tempted by cheap ebay Chinese stuff, you will waste your time and money as they don't last very long!
