Title: Hyundai HPTN4200S
Post by: Turnip on February 15, 2009,06:13:22
Hi, Folks.

Have one of these - perhaps LG - where screen shows narrow vertical coloured stripes which change with picture content. This is my first Plasma job, so a few thoughts of where to look would be most useful.

   Thanks - Turnip

Thanks Tony,

Your concise advice confused me somewhat. Being new to Plasma, I still don't know what's missing. As a 'Component level - picture valve'  sort'a chap (haven't any spare panels yet, and am far too mean to buy any) a brief synopsis of the situation - as with your rather handy one on Vestel LCD power panels, that got me to the root - might be the business.

In hope of a spare moment  - Chris.

sorry for slow response, on the left hand side(from the rear) there are two narrow panels which interface with the y-sus pcb, the large one, and the pdp (screen)
there is a small cable which supplies 5v and data to the lower pcb, take that off at one end and disconnect the same board (lower) from the large board, if you now get the top half of the picture your lower y drive is goosed, dont touch the ribbon side that connects to the screen at this stage, and get back to me
tony walker
btw what model is it

Hi Tony,

Thanks for making things simpler for one initially looking for the 'Picture valve'  Did as you suggested, and the now have the top half of the picture.
What do you suggest next, noting that earlier you said that replacing the Y-SUS as well would be the business - does the Y-SUS tend to pop the drive boards perhaps ?

Hi folks, esp Tv Tony,

While waiting Tony's further thoughts, Just had to plug in replacement lower drive board and was rewarded with a normal picture. Still a bit concerned as the Ysus tends to buzz a bit. Is this normal or reason to replace it. Got a screen smash locally, so lots of LG bits.

    Many Thanks - Chris Steele.

If it's an LG 42V6 panel then yes, I would definately recommend changing the Y-Sus (6871QYH029A - Now 6871QYH029R), or you'll be looking for another 6871QDH067B Lower Buffer very soon.

Good Luck
