Title: Belling Format cooker 600XL
Post by: Turnip on August 09, 2009,09:51:16
Hi folks,

Have one of these where the rear control board has popped. Anyone know where a shematic might be found, or a serious forum dealing with electronics in white goods ? The panel itself doesn't feature in any spares site.

  In hopes - Chris.

Thanks Astracat,

Realise that said cooker is oldish (1982) but if the Queen cooks with one, think to press on. Panel concerned is to do with auto switching of the control panel light, oven cooling fan and one other thing I haven't discovered. There are three triacs driven by a couple of timer chips, plus another two chips that I haven't yet checked purpose. Panel was made by Diamond H Controls. Just got timers and Triacs from RS - will give it a go or no dinner

Incidentally the clock display expired some years ago. The mains transformer - encapsulated, had naturally gone O/C. Guessed the output voltage and rewound one to suit. voltage was a little low but, can still see the clock  - Chris.

Thanks a lot Astracat(s)

'Element limiter control panel' seems vather vague, as this panel seems to deal with ancillary stuff, nothing whatever to do with any elements, but oven cooling, lighting and two more things that I haven't yet discovered - well there are four high impedance inputs, will check out by shorting out those three Triacs to see what turns on.

Salads for a while, but it's high summer.

Many thanks for your links, checked both exhaustively, and was impressed - Chris.

Hi fellow cooks,

Have discovered the initial cause of the problem was the oven cooling fan, fitted at the rear under the IR hob unit. Motor winding had burned out, and not being fitted with an internal thermal fuse, had taken out one of the control board triacs and drive logic.
For interest, other two triacs control the fascia light and the 'hob hot' neon, logic required to give a cool down delay after oven switch off.

Rewound the motor, fitted thermal fuse, and it works (I'm surprised) - Chris.
